Staff Backend Engineer

We are looking for a Staff Backend Engineer to drive the technical vision, scalability, and architecture of our enterprise backend services built on PHP and Laravel. Tech stack: PHP 8+, Laravel, MySQL, Redis, REST APIs, GraphQL, Docker, AWS, Queues (SQS/RabbitMQ) What you will work on: - Architect high-throughput, low-latency APIs and microservices using modern PHP and the Laravel framework. - Lead database schema design, index strategies, and query optimization for high-scale MySQL databases. - Design resilient asynchronous processing pipelines using Redis and enterprise message queues. - Define backend architectural patterns, code quality standards, and automated testing strategies across teams. - Collaborate with product management, principal architects, and engineering leads to break down complex business problems into modular technical solutions. What we are looking for: - Extensive production experience designing and scaling complex backend systems using PHP and modern Laravel. - Deep expertise in relational database design, query profiling, caching strategies, and API security (OAuth2, JWT). - Demonstrated leadership in driving system architecture decisions, conducting code reviews, and raising the technical bar across an organization.
